What Turns You On?

10.16.06 | Comment?

Here is a link to the McGill Universities website discussing a study concerning male and female arousal rates .

According to the study, healthy young men and women have similar patterns of sexual arousal. Both genders start to get excited within about 30 seconds and reach their peak at between 10 and 12 minutes.

The research at Montreal’s McGill University, psychologists used thermal-imaging cameras to monitor the genital temperature of male and female students as they watched movies of horror, comedy and porn. I wonder how many people got excited watching horror – maybe some pissed their pants and the thermal-imaging cameras picked it up as a sign of arousal.

The report states that, “turned the conventional wisdom that women become aroused more slowly than men on its head.”

Who thinks that anymore? In the real world, meaning not watching porn, men and women are turned on by different stimuli. Watching a woman in high heels and tight jeans might arouse a man. A whiff of cologne that reminds her of a night in Las Vegas might arouse a woman.

I don’t think faster or slower applies to arousal or to “conventional wisdom.” I stress the fact that everybody is different. One person’s turn on is another person’s turn-off. Everybody is different and have different reactions. Talk, explore, try new things - as long as you are trying to make each other feel good, get and give good feedback – let your lover know what you like or dislike. Follow advice that you give each other, change angles or don’t go so fast yet.

The experiments with new methods and G-Spot stimulation can become an awesome addition to your lovemaking. Different response times, different stress levels, different muscle tone, all kinds of things influence a turn-on.
